2008 Season Concert 3

NIGHT AT THE OPERA
Grainger Quartet's final subscription concert in 2008 showcases composers celebrated for their operas. The opening quartet, Berg's Op3, has one of the most dramatic openings in the quartet repertoire - a perfect curtain raiser for our 'Night at the Opera'. Mozart achieved perfection in his operas and his ten celebrated string quartets and we have chosen his Eflat major quartet (KV428) for this concert. Puccini and Verdi wrote very little chamber music but these two quartets are masterpieces (Jeremy Williams, violist, Grainger Quartet) Poster and Full program details

2009 - from the musicians
As many of you may be aware, we will not be performing together as the Grainger Quartet in 2009. However, we will continue to perform as members of the chamber ensemble Sydney Soloists.
We would like to thank you wholeheartedly for the tremendous encouragement and support you have given us since the inception of the Grainger Quartet.

...and from the Sydney Mozart Society...
...'Luckily, we'll be hearing all the musicians next year as part of the Sydney Soloists at the Sydney Mozart Society's June concert and as part of the string quintet we have called "Quartet Plus . . ." at the Mozart Society's
October concert in Sydney. So disbandment does not mean the end of the association!'
Best regards. Martin Cooper OAM (President/Artistic Director)
